Universal Health Coverage Day

On December 12, 2012, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution encouraging governments to step up efforts to ensure universal access to high-quality and affordable health services.

As part of their commitment to healthcare access for the most vulnerable populations and to enrich the debate on the establishment of universal health coverage by drawing on feedback from the field, the Sanofi Espoir Foundation and the French Development Agency (AFD) jointly organized a day of discussions around micro-health insurance in developing countries.

The first round table was devoted to mutualist models of community health. Led by the WHO P4H network, Sanofi Espoir Foundation’s partners highlighted the lessons learnt and the new challenges involving these health coverage models observed via their programs in Chad and Guinea with CIDR, in Madagascar and India with InterAide, and in Cambodia with the GRET.
