Towards the end of 2014, Sanofi and the Sanofi Espoir Foundation invited subsidiaries and sites around the world to join in the Sanofi Season of Solidarity, an international humanitarian drive to involve employees and partner organizations in solidarity activities. The theme this year was "children" and the event was sponsored by Gilles Lhernould and Peter Guenter.
The season ran from September to December with a significant number of activities organized in twenty countries. This year, more than 20,000 employees were involved in solidarity operations and volunteering both on and outside their sites for the benefit of sick or disadvantaged children.
In Brazil, the "Be a Santa Claus" operation led to donations of toys and books to nearly 500 children in the Darcy Fargas hospital in Sao Paulo.
In Russia, a blood donation for sick children at the Dimitri Rogachev Oncology Center in Moscow was organized by employees and toys were distribution to 300 orphans in the city.
In Pakistan, disadvantaged children were able to participate in excursions to a WWF reserve and to the zoo in Karachi.
In South Africa, employees distributed blankets, food, clothing and toys in a shantytown near Johannesburg.
In China, there was a steady stream of activities over the four months with donations of books and food, visits to autistic, pediatric and oncological centers for children, and activities for children living on the streets
Finally, in France, there were collections of toy and clothing, and markets or small solidarity lunches were given for several partner associations.
There was a long list of actions this year, and many efforts taken demonstrate the enthusiasm and support of the employee community for sick and underprivileged children.
